Set of scabbard/sword belt, "rain-guard" and grip cover for a type XVIII.a (composite) sword forged by Gaël Fabre.
For the creation of the "rain-guard" and the grip I was inspired by a piece kept in the Bayeriches Museum. At the request of the customer the scabbard was matched with the floral pattern of the fuse.
Characteristics of the scabbard/sword-belt :
- Custom made lime wood core assembled with bone glue
- Covering in vegetable-tanned leather dyed with iron acetate
- Steel chape
- Sword belt in vegetable tanned leather dyed with iron acetate
- Silver plated bronze buckles
Characteristics of the "rain-guard"/grip :
- "Rain-guard" in vegetable tanned leather hardened with animal gelatine (boiled leather), blackened with iron acetate
- Grip cover in vegetable tanned leather glued with hide glue, blackened with iron acetate
